Serpenti - "Our secret is ... to have fun!"

Serpenti-Our secret is ... to have fun!

Your last album "Cyclone" was released on February 24. This is your first CD after a two-year break. What was your idea for the recording of this album? How is it different from your previous projects?

Cyclone is the son of our 2 previous albums. We started our musical journey in Italy, singing in Italian. Cyclone is our “best of” with the lyrics adapted in English.  We had the opportunity to change some sounds during the mix to make them more suitable to us now.

"Cyclone" is also your first international record which was released under the Swedish label Uberstrom. It's definitely a big thing for you. What were your expectations for the release of the album? Who would you recommend to familiarize themselves with this project?

Being noticed by a Swedish label has been very exciting for us. Sweden is known for being a hotbed of talent in music, and for this, we are very honored.. Now, our goal is to plan our live tour to make ourselves known throughout Europe and, in the meantime, start writing new song. We cater to an audience that loves the melodies of pop but gets involved by rougher electronic sounds.

We started with the topic of your last album, but now I would like you to tell me about the beginnings of your musical career. As we read in the official press materials, it all started in 2007. When did you meet each other for the first time? Who was the initiator of the creation of the group?

Luca and I have started making music together in 1997, when we were lead singer and bassist of another band, Ultraviolet. Luca (SERPENTI is his last name) began to fall in love with electronic sounds and the activity of producer. From this came the idea of mixing pop rock with dance music. After several auditions, I proposed myself and I passed the audition.

You guys play a lot of concerts. More than 300 gigs in the last 7 years is an impressive feat. You performed not only in the United States and UK, but also in Europe and Asia. I wonder what is your recipe for a successful show? I saw a video of your live performance in Shanghai and the audience went crazy!

Our secret is ... to have fun! On stage, we pull out an extraordinary energy, the more the public gets involved, the more we involve them in a whirlwind of emotions..

Without a doubt you love music. You love what you do, but in the same time it's your everyday job. Tell me, when your passion becomes a way of life, can you still treat it as a hobby? Something that gives you a respite, allows you to relax?

We feel very lucky because we have a job we love. And when you love what you do, there are no working hours, stress, wants to get away for vacation ... you always do everything with passion and pleasure. We try to keep up the enthusiasm to respect ourselves and our fans.

As I mentioned, your musical journey began seven years ago. Along with the evolution of your music, the record industry was also changing. How do you perceive it today? In your opinion, what are its strengths and weaknesses?

We make music since 1997 and, since then, everything has changed. We think, however, that we should not be afraid and we need to embrace change. People will always need music beyond all.

How would you describe your style? Is it possible to assign it to a specific genre of music?

We're not very good to describe ourselves, however, in general, we can call ourselves a mix of pop, electro, dance with a touch of rock

They say that cooperation requires not only understanding, but also the confidence of both sides. What is the importance of trust in your mutual relations? I have a feeling that this is an important element of your activity.

For us it is a crucial point. Each of us is 50% of the project. We are a boy and a girl and, with Serpenti, we gave birth to a hermaphrodite creature who has the sensitivity of a woman and the simplicity and candidness of a man.

Could you tell us what are your future plans? What can we expect from Serpenti in coming months?

As said before, we are planning our summer tour. We are two very curious people, we hope to know new places and new people. For surely there will come new inspiration for our future songs.

At the end, what was the most embarrassing thing that happened to you on stage?

I’ve said that we have a lot of fun during our shows… sometimes it happens that the fun turns into a bad fall on the stage. The important thing is to keep singing and playing!!! The show must go on!

Thank you for your time. It was a real pleasure for me. I wish you all the best and happiness in life. Take care.

Thank you for your questions! It is a pleasure for us… We hope to meet you soon…maybe behind a stage! Ciao!!!
