We Butter the Bread with Butter-Music has just been the best thing of our lives...
We're talking a few days after the release of your new album, entitled "Goldkinder". This is the fourth CD in your artistic output. Tell me, how would you describe your new project? How does it differ from your previous albums?

The last three years have been to great value to us. We have been touring a lot in many great countries and met inspiring bands and people, that’s something that in my opinion characterizes and formed “Goldkinder”. We were trying around with styles, tempos and arrangements in many songs. This record has a heavier sound than the previous recordings. Since the tempo is lower than before, we could give more space to the arrangements of melodies and the emotions are better transported.

There are 13 tracks on the album full of passion and energy. I wonder how do you recall the recording session of this project? What was your idea for the creation of this CD?

Simply trying to reach the next step in our music. The way we record hasn't really changed to the recording sessions before. Can, my drummer and Marci, my guitarist wrote most of the songs together. They are complimenting, but also pushing and stopping each other. That has been a really good mix on this record. If there is one idea, or one rule behind “Goldkinder” it's simply that there are no borders and no rules and nothing is wrong in the first place, something that hasn't been very different on the other records, too. We love to surprise and to go further. Worse than being copied is to copy yourself and since music is infinite, why not being curious to test it.

As I mentioned it before, the "Goldkinder" is your fourth album. I'm curious how do you remember the beginning of your musical career? We Butter the Bread with Butter officially exist since 2007. Through all of these years, you gone through some very significant changes, such as the departure of Tobias "Tobi" Schultka – the co-founder and the previous vocalist of your band. What was the reason for that?

Back then we all knew, if we'd like to continue the band and try to make this our life, we have to sacrifice it all. This is when Tobi departured and there is nothing bad about it! He is extremely good in what he is doing right now and we are all still good friends and help us out if we need each other. The life we try to live just wasn't something for him and that's it!

I'm curious how would you describe the style in which you create your recordings? Well, your sound is described as a mix between deathcore and electronic metal. But I get the impression that it’s not enough to characterize your music. What is your opinion on this subject?

Thank you very much. Maybe because we are not really judgmental about music or a music style. If the music behind a “genre” isn't boring we love it and it doesn't matter if it's rock, heavy metal, score music or folklore music from an Indian tribe in the desert. Setting no borders could make it harder to be defined, but you can be more surprising and that is very important to us.

On 11 and 12 of August you performed at two concerts in Poland. You played in Warsaw and Krakow supporting an American heavy metal band called Trivium. Well, it wasn’t the first time when you were in our country. If I'm not mistaken you also performed in Krakow in 2012. How would you rate Polish audience? Have you had a chance to go sightseeing these two cities?

The last shows have been very special to us, the polish audience is just crazy! Maybe it's what I was talking about before. If you can't be open to new music, new bands, you'll probably just love the five bands you knew before. It's just wonderful seeing a crowd, that is letting themselves go, although they didn't attend the show for you in the first place. That's what the polish audience gave us and we were just happy and thankful to get this chance. We sadly didn't have time to see the cities very much, but since we are coming back for many more times, that's something looking forward to.

What are your plans for the coming months? I heard that you revealed a U.S. tour. Could you tell us when will it start?

We will be heading to the United States for the first time. The tour starts in the beginning of September and will include two shows in Canada, too. After that we will be starting our Europe-Tour and basically play everyday until the end of the year. You should check the tour-dates on our homepage or facebook, because there are so many countries I can't tell right now. We can't describe how excited we are. This means the world to us!

I wonder what are your musical influences? Bands or musicians who have left their mark on your work?

Everything is our musical influences. We listen to very different music styles and all of them somehow influence you in your songs. We really love Muse, Avenged Sevenfold, Rammstein and Metallica but also bands like Trivium become influences to you, when you get the chance to tour with them and somehow look into different band-philosophies.

If you’ll have just a few moments how would you encourage people to listen to your new album? What would you say to all of those who have never had the chance to listen to your music? What kind of words would you use?

This record is much more straight-forward than the earlier recordings and brings you a sound, that really surprised us when it was done. It's the best we have done and it took us some big steps to form it. We love the diversity of this recording and it reflects us pretty well.

At the end, please tell me, what is the meaning of music in your everyday life? Can you imagine a life without it?

No! None of us could. To all of us, music has just been the best thing of our lives. It made us who we are and we will definitely do this, until the rest of our lives.

Thank you very much for your time. It was a real pleasure for me. I wish you many further successes and happiness in life. Thanks again.
